What is SEO/Search Engine Optimization ?

SEO is a word we heard very much on internet. But what does it mean and its role? SEO is abbreviate of Search and Engine Optimization. I will quote a concept on the wiki to tell you about it.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine's "natural" or un-paid ("organic") search results. In general, the earlier (or higher ranked on the search results page), and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine's users. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search, academic search, news search and industry-specific vertical search engines.

SEO was begins from in the mid-1990s when many webmasters and content providers began optimizing sites for search engines. By doing this, their sites will has high rank on search engine. Nowadays with the development of internet, website, search engine many terms for optimization were born.There are many search engine like: Yahoo, Bing, Baidu... and the biggest is Google. All our work for SEO is around satisfy rules and optimizing Google search engine.

There are two main type of search engine optimization are 'white hat - good way to seo' and 'black hat - not good to seo'. These types have many problems and concept we need to learn, so I will introduce them in another article.To start SEO your website you need to prepare knowledge about website and SEO. If you can master all skills about SEO, everything will become more easily than ever. There are a funny sentence in my country that "SEO is so easy that your mother can do it !".
